We standby Mirwaiz at this time, say Ulemas | KNO

Srinagar, March 15 (KNO) : As per the program of Mutahida Majlis Ulama on the occasion of Friday Congregation prayers, a resolutions passed unanimously by the Mutahida Ulema Council on 12th March was readout by Imams, Khateebs and Religious scholars across the Kashmir Valley at different places including at Jama Masjid Srinagar, Dargah Hazratbal, Jinab Sahib Soura, Astan-e-Aliya Saraie Bala, Khanka-e-Moula, Dastgeer Sahib Khanyar, Imam Bara Budgam, Jamia Masjid Beerwah, Mirza Akmal Sahib Hawal, Masjid Sharief Khwaja Habibullah Sahib Nowshera, Masjid Rehmat Lal Bazar, Imam Bara Hassanabad, Masjid Sajadia Chattabal, Madina Masjid Nigeen, Masjid Sharief Zadibal, Masjid Sharief Batamalo and in mosques all over the districts of the valley. On the occasion, the people as per a statement issued to KNO endorsing the resolution of MMU strongly condemned the attempt to harass and intimidate Mirwaiz-e- Kashmir Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq and wave of repression on socio-religious organizations, cadres and people of Kashmir. People raised slogans against the NIA move and protested it. Here is the resolution: This congregation expresses solidarity with Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Mohammad Umar Farooq and assures him that we standby Mirwaiz at this time when he is being harassed and victimized by the authorities and would stay shoulder to shoulder with him. The meeting strongly denounced the NIA notice to Mirwaiz and summoning him to Delhi for questioning for no reason and termed it as assault on religious affairs of Muslims making it clear Mirwaiz is not just a political leader whose views are for peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue, but the religious head of people of Kashmir and any attempt to harass him will be strongly opposed as it deeply will hurt the sentiments and feelings of people across the State. The congregation strongly condemns the imposition of ban on Jamaat-e-Islami, and arrest of its leaders and cadres and called it a blatant interference in religious affairs meeting also condemned the crackdown on the resistance leadership, killings, and harassment of people. The congregation condemns in strongest words the frequent sealing of Kashmir's grand Masjid Jamia Masjid which is the religious and spiritual epicenter of the lacs of people of the State and termed the barring of Friday prayers as highly intolerable stating that the move amounts to direct religious interference. The congregation lays special focus on all segments of society and people of Kashmir to shun sectarian difference and other ideological rifts and to stay United at this crucial juncture when there is a tremendous onslaught against people. The congregation vows to remain alert about the ploys aimed at creating a wedge among the people on sectarian lines and to defeat all such moves.(KNO)
